What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a state that allows you to totally focus and concentrate.
Have you ever been deep in thought while driving and all of a sudden you arrive at your destination and cannot remember how you got there? Have you ever been so focused on a movie or book that you didn't hear someone calling you? Have you ever daydreamed? That's what being hypnotized is like.
What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis to create a hypnotic state to solve problems. Hypnotherapy enables you to change habits, reduce stress and achieve your goals - much more easily than you can in a state of normal awareness. It's been used for thousands of years to help people with a wide variety of mental and physical challenges.
With hypnosis you're in control
Wouldn’t you like to be in control of eliminating that nagging problem once and for all? Are you ready to be in control of making the positive changes you've been wanting to make in your life.
It’s important to understand that all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. As your hypnotherapist, I act as your guide, but the control is always in your hands. You're never asleep. You hear every word I say. And you never do or say anything you don't want to.
You've probably seen stage or TV shows with people seeming to be under the control of a hypnotist. It looks that way, but they're not. They're highly suggestible, and have volunteered to play along with the hypnotist - as long as what's suggested is something they genuinely want to do. If they don't like what's suggested, they just won't do it.
Consider what would happen if a stage hypnotist told a subject to go out and rob the 7-11 next door. The subject wouldn't do it. It simply wouldn't happen. The person being hypnotized is always in complete control.
Why is a personalized approach to hypnotherapy so important?
Milton H. Erickson revolutionized hypnosis in the 1950's and is considered to be the 20th century's greatest medical hypnotist. What made Erickson such an influential hypnotist was his ability to empathize with others and to appreciate individual differences. Erickson believed that each person had within their self the resources needed to accomplish their goals and make the changes they desired. Erickson believed that needs were individual and should be treated as such. Therefore, a personalized approach to providing hypnotherapy is the most effective way facilitate change.
